GARDEN PARTY

Hi everyone, I wanted to share with you this stamp that I’m LOVING right now! I bought it from Michaels, and pretty much it’s just a really cute little garden scene with a variety of different flowers blooming. I thought I would make some cards with it and I think it turned out pretty good. I think the velum and twine add the perfect finishing touches. Enjoy!

THE BOND OF SISTERHOOD

Hi everyone, hope you’re having a beautiful day. I will be selling this layout in my shop so if you’re interested in buying it click on over to Diary In Color on Etsy and thank you for all your support!

This is a two page layout with a cute wood chip title. On the first page you can add a 5x7 picture and on the opposite page add two more 4x6’s. I think this is a really pretty layout for springtime time and they complement each other nicely. What do you think and if you have any specific layout you would like me to create.

FLOWER PARTY

This was a very simple clean layout I made. For the photo mat and journal spot I smudged the edges with some brown ink I had on hand and added some felt flowers to the corners of the layout. To add some interest to the page I hot glued some buttons on the flower centers and tried to stick with similar colors. For a little more intricate detail I made little holes with a needle in the small half circles that frame the picture mat. I’m not sure how well you can see that in the pictures but it looks really cute in person.

Because this page was so beautifully simple I created two so you can purchase this layout in my shop. To finish up mine I plan to include a large amount of journaling in a cursive font similar to a scroll and once the writing is done curl the edges of the paper to add some dimension. Hope my layout inspired you to create!

ART JOURNAL: THE SKY IS THE LIMIT

New obsession ART JOURNALING! And I already have a favorite YouTube channel that specializes in art journaling, Vicky Papaioannou. All her creations are amazing and I can’t seem to get enough. Of course I ran out to the store and bought an art journal, now I didn’t buy the one she uses and I don’t have all the right supplies just yet, but I’m working on it. I wanted to make sure this was something I was interested in before spending too much money.

I created two pages on my own and as fun as it was to create freestyle I found that while I’m still getting the hang of this new technique I would prefer a little more direction in my creations and this is where Vicky came in. I think she is just wonderful. She also has a blog called Clips-n-Cuts you should definitely check her out. Another really cool thing Vicky does is she takes the time to include all of her supplies featured in the video and adds them to the description with links on where you can buy it.

For the page below I simply followed her video “Art journal: The sky is the limit” step by step pausing in-between. I don’t own gelatos or the same markers, gesso, and stamps she uses but I tried to work with what I do own. This page uses several mediums and since I’m still learning, these video tutorials are a great help. For the air-balloon stamp I simply sketched and cut out. Thinking about it now I could have found an image online, printed and cut but I actually like the handmade shape of them. Anyways I hope your guys picked up some new ideas and are interested in following me on my art journal journey.

Send me a comment or link to some of your favorite art journal youtube channels or any links to art journal pages you have created. I would love to check them out, thanks!

Thank you Vicky!

SEAFOAM SHADOW BOXES

Hi Everyone,

I was window shopping this past weekend and got inspired to create some cute little seashell shadow boxes. I actually ended up making made 2 sets of these so one set is up for sale in my shop however, if you looking to create some on your own continue reading and enjoy!

Supplies
3 Shadow Boxes
2 Colors of Paint
Painters Tape
3 Big Seashells
Burlap
Picture Frame Hooks
Hot Glue Gun

1) First I painted the shadow boxes. On my shadow boxes the stripe is a lighter color than the box so I painted a wide white stripe on the outside edge of the box and along the inside edge of the box. Once dry I used the painter tape to block off the area I wanted to keep white and with my darker color painted the rest of the box.

2) Once all three boxes were painted and dry I attached the picture hooks on the back. Depending on how you decide to display your boxes will determine if you need to do this step or not.

3) Next I cut out various sized squares of burlap and with the hot glue gun I layered them in no particular order on the back inside wall. Be sure I secure each piece of burlap before adding another piece and test this by hold the box upside down. The shells will be glued to the burlap and they can be heavy so you want to make sure the burlap is sturdy before attaching anything else to it.

4) All you have left now is to add the shells. Make sure you let the glue fully dry with the boxes laying down before you set them up for display.

Enjoy!

BIG WISHES

I just finished some cute candle birthday cards. On these I stamped the candles and hand colored them in for a personal touch. Again I used my cricut to cut out the words, easy enough right? Can you tell the difference between the two?

Enjoy!

FERRIS WHEEL BIRTHDAY

I love this stamp, it's so fun with the added jewels. I created this card while taking a class so I don't own the stamp but I might just have to buy it! With the OC Fair right around the corner I can already see how I could incorporate it into some of my 12x12 layouts.

What do you think? Do you like the color combos? Does this card say Birthday theme to you?

PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES

I always thought you can never have enough pictures, but now I’m beginning to wonder. I recently started to panic when I was looking through some scrapbooks I made as a child. I had cut pictures into funny shapes and glued them on to notebook paper and whatever else I could find. Then it occurred to me, do we have copies of these photos anywhere else?! The answer was NO.

Since then I have been trying to scan everything in my possession, well everything before 2003, after that I think most of the pictures were taken by a camera phone and are on the computer already. I went to my parents’ house and found boxes and boxes and even more boxes of pictures my family stashed away and never did anything with. Now I’m trying to scan, sort, date and scrapbook as many as I can. I’m so overwhelmed by the amount of pictures I can’t stay focused. I jumped into scanning but now I’m wondering would it have been better to first sort and date, don’t answer that question! I’m trying to stay calm and do my best but I just want to get back to creating already!

Have any of you experienced this daunting task and did you survive? Is there a light at the end of this tunnel!!

PLAY TIME

I love this page, this type of basic clean line layout is the type of scarpbook page I am fimiliar with creating. Most of the paper used in this layout is from the Authentique Precious Bundle paper pad which I absoutly love. I actually bought two packs of this pad which is something I have never done before. I like it because the designs are in such soft colors and the back side comes is solid soft colors such as this beautiful green I used as the mat of this page and the creamy white I matted the photo on. For the jourling piece I used some of Becky Higgins black pens which are great because the pack of pens come in 3 different fine point tip sizes. I used a pretty blue page from the paper pack and created a shadowy boarder with some blue acrylic paint. For the date I used my 2" circle punch but looking at it now I'm a little bothered by the different sizes of the jourligjourling and date pieces. I wanted it to look as if the top of the ribbon was cut off and added, maybe I'll have to go back in and fix that. Other than that I'm very satisfied. What do you guys think in the comments below and let me know what your all time favorite 12x12 paper pack is and why... did you have to buy two of them?

Talk to you guys later!
