MATCHING SHELL PICTURE FRAMES

I just finished creating two beautiful matching picture frames. Some of the shells and I bought while others I found on the beach. They each hold a 5x7 picture and can be hung horizontally or vertically. What do you think? I love the way the sand turned out.

WALL ART

I must say this was probably one of my more enjoyable projects; its easy and hard to mess up. There are several variations depending on the wall space you have and the type of art you want to create, but for the sake of simplicity, I have written out the directions to create the wall art you see here in my picture.

You will need:
  • 3 Canvases
  • Acrylic Paint (3 different colors)
  • Can of Spray Paint (Antique Gold)
  • Plants or Flowers (3 different types)

1) Paint each canvas a different color of acrylic paint, for my example I used green, red and blue. Be sure to cover the entire canvas in paint, including the sides of the canvas. Wait until the paint is dry before moving on to the next step.

2) Lay out the plant on the canvas the way you want it outlined. You might want to arrange the canvases in the order you will hang them and then determine how you want the plants to be placed on each canvas.

3) Spray paint the entire canvas including the sides with gold. Be careful not to spray your plant right off of the canvas. Start in the upper left hand corner and spray back and forth, right to left. (**note: if the plant does move or you don't like the way it comes out, simply cover the canvas in acrylic paint and try again).

4) Let them dry and your done, there ready to be hung.

TWO BY FOURS

For this painting I had a hard time getting the spacing correct so I'll let you in on a little secret of mine, I used 2 x 4's! I had some extra ones around my house from a previous project and thought PERFECT. I outlined the wood in pencil and used tape to tape off the lines, then I just painted away.
